Do you have what it takes to join the West Coast Police team and become an Authorised Officer? 

The role of an Authorised Officer is to ensure the safe, secure and humane containment and transportation of detainees within a Police custody environment, in accordance with established regulations and procedures. A custody environment is defined as any location where a prisoner is in Police custody (including but not restricted to; cells, courtroom, prison, hospital), and the transit between any of these locations.  You may also be required to assist Police to guard and secure scenes of incidents or other matters that require personnel support.

Special Requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold a current first aid certificate in accordance with the relevant NZQA standards.
  • Applicants must hold a current class 1 driver's licence.
  • Applicants must meet the health and fitness standards required for the role
