About the role
We are currently looking for a Part Time Medical Advisor to join our team at NZ Police, the lead agency responsible for reducing crime and enhancing community safety. You will be working with a hard-working and enthusiastic team who are part of a high performing Safer People Medical Services team.
As a Medical Advisor you will be providing primary care nursing services to NZ Police. You will be a registered Senior Nurse who will be based at RNZPC. You will provide assessments, medical advice and ensure the fitness and well-being of our people across a variety of workgroups, particularly our new recruits.
Key Accountabilities:
- You will act as a source of specialist information and advice in the medical clearance process.
- Strong communication skills and understanding of medical language as is relevant to medical assessments during the recruiting process into police
- Providing advice and recommendations to applicants following the outcome of the medical clearance
- Ensuring ongoing well-being of our people with regular check-ups and health promotion
- Administering vaccinations and providing occupational health services where applicable
- Look for opportunities for continuous improvement.

Qualifications Required:
- Successful applicants must be a NZ Registered Comprehensive or General Nurse and ideally have, or willing to attain independent vaccinator status
- Successful applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of contemporary knowledge and experience in general nursing, primary health care or occupational health.
- Successful applicants must have a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the Nursing Council of NZ with no restrictions
- Previous demonstrated experience in Mental Health
- Excellent computer skills including Full Microsoft suite, Outlook & Medtech Evolution
