What you'll be doing - Te whakamahere
Due to an internal promotion, we now have an amazing opportunity for a Financial Controller to join our team. Our Finance team has an aspiration to create a stronger, more agile and more connected finance function for NZTE. We will do this by shifting from back office to front office and truly earn the "title" of partner to our organisation. As NZTE continues to flex its resources to support its strategy, there are amazing opportunities and challenges for the Finance team. We want to provide an awesome customer experience using automation and digitalisation to sync in with our internal partners to produce joined up delivery rather than manual and transactional individual processes.
This role is all about leading authentically and taking ownership of NZTE's finance technology roadmap. Working closely with the CFO, you will work to transform current systems with a future-of-work lens and be a natural at translating technology strategy into organisational practices and outcomes. You will also be the expert on all things relating to tax compliance, statutory reporting, and government cycles. Action oriented, you will work with our amazing Digital team and manage the charge on automation opportunities and maximising financial system efficiency to optimise user experience. An engaging and focused leader, you will inspire and help guide your team to build their skill sets, further develop commercial acumen and deliver fantastic results through world-class mentorship and coaching.
What you'll need to be successful - Ō Pūkenga
You will possess strong experience in senior financial control positions within large complex organisations, preferably in both public and private sector. You'll be an engaging communicator where you'll adeptly develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholder across NZTE, leaders of industry and government departments. This strong interpersonal aptitude and your continuous improvement mindset will allow you to focus on what's important, eliminate roadblocks and capitalise on opportunities to simplify systems/process and collaborate on best practice.
Knowledge of complex accountancy practices including systems, methodologies, technology and foreign exchange management, as well as experience in implementing new finance systems, process improvement and financial controls are must-haves in this role. We are looking for someone who is committed for NZTE and their team, inspiring people and actively supporting them to drive for results and lasting improvements. It would also be advantageous if you have any exposure to managing international financial operations.
