The New Zealand Police Information and Communications Technology Service Centre (ICTSC) are seeking an Applications Support Analyst, based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Porirua.


The ICT Service Centre is here to save police officers time, enhance their safety and contribute to making New Zealand a safer community. To prevent crime and crashes, Police needs information delivered to the front line that is reliable and accessible anywhere, anytime. Making this happen is the daily work of our people in the ICT Service Centre. This role is responsible for:

  • Providing 2nd and 3rd level technical and functional leadership across all levels of support for designated applications.
  • Providing management of support and business knowledge appropriate to designated
  • Providing professional, customer focused Application Support that is service-based, aligned with current IT industry best practices and meets Application Service Level Requirements as agreed with the business.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of supporting applications across a large organisation.
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of working in a 2nd and 3rd level application support role, with proven ability to lead enterprise application issues through a problem management process to solution.
  • Ability to write clear, precise technical documentation.
  • Good knowledge of New Zealand payroll especially the Holidays Act and associated legislation.


Strong understanding of SAP payroll including:

  • Ability to investigate questions reported by payroll staff about why a payment has/hasn't happened.
  • Configuration skills for payroll elements such as Leave, Wage Types, Superannuation.
  • Ability to resolve/work-around problems
  • Knowledge of the SAP Time Evaluation process and how it relates to Payroll.


  • Strong data analytical skills.
  • Extensive experience of use of LSMW.
  • Ability to lead investigations into problems from beginning through to resolution.
  • Willingness to help staff learn SAP Payroll, both the use of and the ability to configure and test it.
  • Must be a good team player as working well with other ICT support staff and the Payroll team is an important requirement.
  • Use of EPI-Use (Variance Monitor and Object Sync) would be an advantage.


ICT use the SFIA Level 6 Skills Framework. In submission of your application, experience in the following SFIA skillsets must be demonstrated:

  • Application Support (ASUP) - Level 4
  • Incident management (USUP) - Level 4
  • Change Management (CHMG) - Level 3
  • Problem Management (PBMG) - Level 4
  • Quality Management (QUMG) - Level 4
