Job Description

  • Greenfields leadership role
  • Improve medicines access equality
  • Make an enduring impact

Join PHARMAC to lead sustainable improvements in health for New Zealanders missing out on funded medicines.   A new organisational commitment to eliminate inequities in access to medicines means we're looking for a bold leader to drive the change needed.  You'll establish a ground-breaking team with a firm evidence-based approach to initiating and evaluating a range of programmes designed to make a difference.  You'll focus on both short-term learnings and long-term gains.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a committed leader to build a team and influence organisational change.  You'll be a professional who wants to make a lasting contribution to the lives of New Zealanders who don't access the medicines they should.  You will be savvy with analysis and possess strong policy and programme leadership skills.

People rate you for your ability to establish and build strong working relationships and your proven ability to plan, organise, monitor and deliver at a strategic level.

You will be an experienced manager with a proven track record managing a team of professional colleagues to work with and through others to achieve results.  You are likely to have worked with communities experiencing disparities.

Creative thinking, self-awareness, energy and intellectual curiosity will be highly valued in this role.  Job satisfaction will come from working across a wide variety of activity in a collegial and high performing team focused on making a difference to the health outcomes for New Zealanders.

Who are we?

At PHARMAC we really care about the best possible health outcomes for New Zealanders. Our job is to make responsible choices and our team delivers a lot with the judicious use of resources. It's not always easy as our decisions impact on people, families, whanau and our wider society - we take that responsibility very seriously.

We work with others in the health sector, we use robust evidence-based processes and we never stop using our ingenuity to make things better. We have built a highly successful and unique organisation and our contribution continues to grow. We have always done things in new and different ways and that's not going to change.

The PHARMAC website About page  is a useful resource to understand more about what we do and includes an Our People section, with staff profiles for a flavour of who you will work with.

Would you like to join us?

The PHARMAC model is unique in the world. We're a small organisation (around 120 staff) where your expertise is respected, and you can really make a difference for people. We take pride in what we do, work hard and have fun.
