Job Description

  • Fixed-term, full-time role (six months)
  • Located in Wellington CBD

Housing New Zealand is a statutory Crown Entity responsible for providing high quality social housing to people in the greatest need, for the duration of their need, alongside supporting the government's priorities in the supply of emergency and affordable housing. 

The Government Relations team provides quality service to the Minister Responsible for Housing New Zealand, the Associate Minister for Social Housing and the Chief Executive of Housing New Zealand and shares its knowledge of Parliament and Government within Housing New Zealand. The team supports Ministers to meet a range of Ministerial, Parliamentary and statutory responsibilities. The team also provides support for the Chief Executive, the Executive Team, the Board, other senior managers and Housing New Zealand's regions.

As a Senior Advisor, you will be responsible for:

  • providing direction, mentor and support to Advisors in the Government Relations Team while managing complex work
  • assisting the Manager Government Relations team achieve the team outcomes
  • preparing draft replies to Ministerial and Chief Executive Correspondence. Parliamentary Questions and Official Information Act requests
  • assisting with projects such as preparing for Select Committee hearings.

The following skills, knowledge and experience are desirable for this position:

  • Previous high level experience writing and editing high quality responses in a Government context
  • Previous high level experience in responding to Official Information Act requests
  • Well developed time management and organisational skills
  • Working in a fast paced team environment
  • Strong ability to maintain relationships with internal stakeholders
