Job Description

Housing New Zealand is a statutory Crown Entity responsible for providing high quality state housing to people in the greatest need, for the duration of their need, alongside supporting the government's priorities in the supply of emergency and affordable housing.

Housing New Zealand's vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help achieve this, we need a fantastic and engaged Stakeholder Relationship Manager to lead and co-ordinate our work across communities in Auckland and Northland. Reporting to the National Relationship Manager, you will be joining a specialist team which contributes to the successful delivery of key work programmes through leading and supporting effective stakeholder management, partnerships and engagement. This role will work across our business groups, especially with our People and Property Group which is charged with management of our customers needs across greater Auckland.

This work involves strong stakeholder and community engagement and connections to wider government sector initiatives and priorities. You will work closely with the National Relationship Manager, Communication Advisors and other Stakeholder Relationship Managers in this area to lead out, co-ordinate and ensure we have aligned stakeholder engagement and communications plans along with the information provision for media and other queries. You'll have great interpersonal and communication skills, be well connected, and passionate about achieving positive results and great outcomes for our tenants and communities. The work is varied, fun and energising. You'll be contributing to positive social and community results and making a real difference.

Key accountabilities include:

  • interaction with stakeholders is prioritised, purposeful and supports delivery on organisational goals
  • an integrated, whole of business approach to lead and manage key stakeholder relationships
  • an up-to-date regional stakeholder plan is in place and implemented effectively as part of the Regional Communications and Stakeholder Relationships team plan
  • internal clarity about objectives for key relationships and who has ultimate relationship management responsibility for each of them.

What you'll need to bring:

  • Tertiary qualification and/or extensive relevant experience
  • Relevant experience leading out stakeholder activity and engagement, preferably in the state housing sector.
  • Broad and extensive stakeholder and community engagement experience
  • Demonstrated excellent relationship management skills
  • Public sector experience (understands the requirements for effective stakeholder and community engagement in a government/state sector environment)
  • Ability and credibility to represent the organisation with external stakeholders
  • A quick thinker able to make decisions
