Job Description

  • Three full-time, permanent positions
  • Based in our Wellington (one role) and Auckland (two roles) offices

As a Health and Safety Advisor Contractor Assurance you will be responsible for providing assurance activities against best practice health and safety performance in the area of our Housing New Zealand build portfolio. These role are based predominantly in either our Auckland or Wellington offices but some travel may be required. You will be skilled at working with a large range of the contracting community and have significant experience in the construction safety industry.

You will be self managing, motivated, enthusiastic and be able to work in a team and a mobile environment. You have the ability to think on your feet, make quality decisions, and solve problems. You will be able to identify risks and have no problem in escalating issues and/or congratulating great performance.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • an ability to provide exceptional customer service
  • expertise in time management and organisation skills
  • an understanding of social housing and the complexities
  • the skills to manage conflict and de-escalate situations
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • a full and clean Drivers License
  • the ability to travel frequently (vehicle provided)
  • a sound working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act (preferred).

The Health Safety and Security Team provide:

  • strong functional leadership
  • practical HSS management strategy
  • technical advice and support
  • on the ground presence and assurance activities
  • robust and accurate reporting and investigations
  • support the development of HSS competencies and leadership capability
  • joint monitoring of compliance and performance
  • participation in lessons learnt reviews and identification and implementation of improvement opportunities
  • communication on HSS issues and best practice guidance.
