We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Analyst to join our Investment and Portfolio directorate and help us deliver on mahi that matters. Our Kaupapa is to put our customers at the heart of our delivery and our team has earned a reputation for delivering quality work. To help deliver on Fire and Emergency's values our team is building a strong business analysis capability. Our value proposition is that “Our directorate enables Fire and Emergency to make better investment decisions and provides the organisation with the tools and support to realise the benefits of those decisions.” To better support the organisation in delivering change we are looking to appoint a permanent Business Analyst to:
- Define problems and assist in developing solutions
- Gather high quality requirements
- Provide analytical support to projects
- Capture current state
- Improve business processes
- Be part of building the organisation's Business Analysis capability
The Business Analyst role is a vital part of our project delivery. The practice we are working to establish will work across a broad range of initiatives. As a member of the team during this phase you will help to establish a toolset that will be used across the organisation.

The Investment and Portfolio directorate is a well-established function within Fire and Emergency. We have lots of different and complex projects running simultaneously, supporting each other in the work we do. And our mahi reaches across the organisation and across the motu.

By joining our team as a Business Analyst, you will leverage your professional curiosity and aptitude for challenging the status quo. Your previous work experience will demonstrate that you are organised, collaborative, and can build relationships all while dealing with ambiguity.
Ideally you have:
- Previous Business Analysis experience or transferable skills from a similar role (e.g. business advisor, senior project coordinator)
- An ability to build collaborative working relationships with a wide range of people across an organisation
- Excellent communication skills at all levels of an organisation
- The understanding and ability to create and update business diagrams
- Shown initiative and good judgement and the ability to work autonomously
- Demonstrated exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills
- An ability to undertake requirement gathering, process and gap analysis
- Documentation and facilitation skills
- Exceptional time management skills
