The role

Our vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help us achieve this we are currently recruiting for a Building Component and Systems Technical Specialist to join our Quality Homes Advisory team. In this role you will be responsible for developing the performance based components and systems standards and evaluating products and systems against these standards for use in both the construction of new and the maintenance of existing Housing New Zealand properties.

The Quality Homes Advisory team sets the design and maintenance Performance Requirements for both existing and new build Housing New Zealand homes, to ensure that our homes are safe, healthy, fit for purpose and sustainable for our customers. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our homes are built with products that will last, remain fit for purpose and are able to easily be maintained over the life of the asset.

What you'll need to bring:

  • A practical knowledge of the application of the Building Regulatory Framework
  • Ability to think analytically while maintaining a strategic focus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership
  • Ability to work to tight timeframes and competing priorities
  • Experience in social housing or related property field
  • Demonstrated understanding of constructional methodology as it applies to both single and multi-storey buildings
  • Strong analytical and product management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
