The role

Housing New Zealand's vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help achieve this, we require an Area Manager to lead our Christchurch based team. In this role you will be accountable for the leadership of the team whose key focus is to ensure operational excellence in the delivery of tenancy management and advice. You will be leading a mobile and in some cases geographically dispersed team with a focus on the delivery of consistent and accurate advice and services to our customers.

A key component of this role is coaching and developing the team to grow capability and deliver key measurable outcomes to support the achievement of People and Property goals and Housing New Zealand's KPI's. You will be responsible for driving nationally consistent standards and processes as well as focussing on the delivery of a smooth customer lifecycle. Active management of key stakeholders within the areas will be a key component of the role.

What you'll need to bring:

  • Proven experience leading and managing large teams across multiple geographic locations, including managing staff development and performance
  • Proven experience in inspiring and motivating direct reports and broader teams to achieve successful outcomes
  • A strong focus on driving operational excellence, effectiveness and efficiency
  • Experience working with different cultures and community groups
  • Experience working with budgets and managing a budget successfully
  • Experience working in a customer centric environment with a sound grasp of quality customer service
  • Knowledge of issues, priorities and concerns facing key customer and community groups in the region
