Our Legal team

Our Legal team is currently growing to meet the demands of Housing New Zealand to provide housing for those most in need in our community. We work closely with the Asset Development Group to develop and prepare construction contracts and consultancy agreements for the new build programme along with providing legal support during the construction process.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Lawyer with ideally three to four years experience wanting to make a real difference for the people of New Zealand by being involved in the delivery of housing. Our role

The purpose of the Legal Counsel (Construction) role will be to provide legal advice and support on a full range of construction matters including all aspects of construction contracts, insurance, bonds, disputes, contract related issues or disputes that arise. We are looking for someone with strong technical legal skills is solution focused, adaptable and a strong communicator.

What you'll need to bring:

  • Experience with preparing and reviewing various forms of NZ construction contracts and consultant agreements
  • Excellent drafting skills to assist in the preparation of construction contracts and consultant agreements
  • Experience providing prompt and commercially focused advice on a range of construction related disputes
  • Sound understanding of the Building Act 2004, various NZ Building Regulations, Construction Contracts Act
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with your colleagues in the wider legal team and other internal clients within the organisation
  • Ability to provide support to our team of legal executives
  • A professional attitude with excellent communication skills
