The role

Our vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help us achieve this we are currently recruiting for a Debt Support Specialist for a fixed term until November 2018, who will monitor debt and debt issues that have been highlighted for follow up. As a Debt Support Specialist you will proactively engage with our tenants to agree on repayment plans. You will support the tenants to better understand and manage their finances. We are looking for someone who enjoys engaging with people and has the ability to build a positive rapport with our more complex tenants to help them take control of their finances and sustain their tenancy.

What you'll need to bring:

  • Experience in a customer facing role in a large organisation
  • An eye for detail and accuracy
  • Extremely organised and methodical in your approach
  • Mathematical literacy and competence working with figures
  • Reporting skills and computer literate
  • Good negotiation and interpersonal skills and experience communicating with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to work alongside and support customers with debt issues to identify and agree appropriate solutions
