The position of Senior Teaching & Learning Advisor is a key role for the Royal New Zealand Police College (RNZPC). You will lead a team of experienced instructional designers who work with NZ Police business owners and across the RNZPC to support organisational change and deliver high quality training products. 


This is a leadership role managing a high functioning team of leaders. You will develop and support systems and processes, including Agile project management disciples to support work flow. A key aspect of the role is partnering with business owners to support change across NZ Police. This involves managing expectations and delivering to sometimes challenging timelines.  


This is a great opportunity to make a significant contribution to NZ Police leading change as a team leader, trainer designer and project manager.



  • Demonstrated understanding of the strategic direction of NZ Police
  • A formal qualification at diploma or degree level, preferably in education or training design or at least 3 years' equivalent experience



  • Creative and self-motivated, easy to work with and able to satisfy stakeholders and business owners
  • Skills developing material for delivery in the online and blended learning environment
  • Desirable skills include; the use of educational technologies including rapid authoring software such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline and Adobe Creative Suite and using digital media including video and audio within course design



  • Experience in project management demonstrated by organisational skills using Agile project management methodologies and applying the ADDIE process
  • Experience in technical writing and editing
  • Experience in the design of learning and assessment material
  • Experience in coordinating training needs analysis
  • Teaching or training experience  


Qualification Requirement:

  • A formal qualification at diploma or degree level is desirable, preferably in education or training design or at least 3 years' equivalent experience
