The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has a critical role in regulating capital markets and financial services in New Zealand. We also work to provide better outcomes for investors, consumers, professionals, businesses, and the New Zealand economy.

Communication is an essential strategic function of the organisation. Our aim is to build a centre of excellence that helps us deliver the FMA's mission of fair, efficient and transparent markets. We are currently looking for a senior adviser to join our External Communications team to join us on this mission.

This fast-paced position will involve planning, writing or editing clear, effective, plain English content for a broad range of audiences (consumers, investors, industry and other stakeholders and media), and channels ( reports and other publications, legal guidance, online copy ) with different strategic needs and expectations.  You'll have the ability to directly influence the way we tailor our communications to get our messages across most effectively. You will be willing to learn and adapt to meet an interesting range of business objectives. You'll need a solid understanding of financial services and commerce, an analytical mind-set.

Key to succeeding in this role will be your solid and demonstrable writing and editorial experience gained in other in-house or agency communications roles. You'll be a skilful communicator with the ability to build relationships within the business. You'll be able to hold your own in conversations with senior execs and subject-matter experts.

Technically, you'll be experienced using web content-management systems and, ideally familiar with Microsoft Office and InDesign.
