Manager, Specialist Audit and Assurance Services – permanent and fixed-term positions
Keen to use your skills to help improve trust and promote value in the public sector? Enthusiastic about working with a range of organisations and learning new things?
Audit New Zealand is the leading provider of audit and assurance services to the public sector, and we're committed to delivering the highest quality service to our clients. Our Specialist Audit and Assurance Services team reviews and gives assurance on high-profile projects, identifying risks and issues for public organisations. We also provide expert advice to Audit New Zealand's core audit teams.
We're looking for someone with experience in procurement, contract management, project management, asset management, risk management, or governance – but, more importantly, we're looking for someone interested in learning about them.
We have one permanent Manager position available, as well as one six-month fixed-term Manager (or Assistant Manager) position available from April to October – this role can be a secondment.
These roles involve:
- working with audit staff to identify and deliver specialist advice and support;
- helping to identify opportunities to provide services to the public sector;
- developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external clients;
- complying with our quality procedures and processes;
- working with the Director, Specialist Audit and Assurance Services to identify audit risks and areas requiring specialist input; and
- helping staff in our local offices to understand the risks and issues that can arise in procurement, contract management, project management, asset management, risk management, and governance.
To succeed in this role, you'll be committed to developing your skills and have an appreciation and knowledge of the financial, political, and professional issues that affect the public sector, including Audit New Zealand and the Office of the Auditor-General.
As a Manager, you won't be managing a team, but you will be managing relationships with audit clients, and we'll give you the support and guidance you need to succeed.
You'll get to work with great people who are passionate about what they do and committed to building a great working environment. Because you'll be dealing with a wide range of clients throughout the country, some travel might be required (but we're increasingly working online).
As an organisation, people matter to us, our independence is critical, we act with integrity, and we're here to make a difference.
For more about us and our work, visit our website.
We offer our staff:
- Learning and development opportunities.
- Flexible working.
- Health and well-being benefits.
It is preferable that you're able to gain and maintain a Confidential national security clearance. Ordinarily, this means that you must be a New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a current residency class visa and intend to become a citizen when eligible. You must have a five-year checkable background in New Zealand, the UK, the USA, Canada, or Australia. Use this online tool to check your eligibility (please note that this tool is not part of the formal security clearance process): www.protectivesecurity.govt.nz/eligibility-tool
We have a diverse and inclusive team that helps us to understand the issues facing the public sector and how these affect the lives of New Zealanders. We strongly welcome applicants from all backgrounds. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to tell us when you apply so that we can assist you through the recruitment process.
For more information, please contact Sandy Hoggarth on 04 917 1500 or email recruitment@auditnz.parliament.nz.
You must apply online through jobs.govt.nz (you'll find the application form and position description there, too).
