We're looking for a Senior Adviser to join our Capital Markets Conduct team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with businesses that issue or deal in financial products. If you've got your finger on the pulse of New Zealand's capital markets, this is for you.  

This role will see you engaging with business leaders to positively influence outcomes for investors. Together with your colleagues, you'll regulate activity in the wholesale and retail space with a particular focus on debt and equity capital markets. You'll be looking at listed and unlisted products and have oversight of market infrastructure.

You'll have interesting opportunities to look at:

  • Market manipulation and insider trading on regulated markets.
  • Fair dealing in financial products.
  • New fundraising mechanisms such as crowd funding and peer-to-peer lending platforms.
  • Market integrity.

To be successful in this role, you'll have at least 5 years' relevant experience and a deep understanding of financial markets. You will be comfortable researching approaches to markets regulation in other jurisdictions and assessing whether such approaches would translate into the New Zealand market context. While your experience could have been gained in any type of financial services business, experience working in an investment banking or markets environment would be particularly useful. Experience in investigations and gathering evidence would also be advantageous but not essential.
