The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has established itself as an agency with a critical role in regulating financial services and capital markets in New Zealand and providing better outcomes for investors, consumers, professionals, businesses, and for the New Zealand economy.

As part of the wider Regulation function, our Supervision team monitors the conduct, competency and compliance of financial market participants. We currently have a fixed term (parental leave cover) opportunity available at Adviser level to join this team.

This position will see you engaging with market participants (such as financial advisers, insurance companies, brokers and custodians, banks, fund managers and derivatives issuers') and participating in monitoring engagements and licensing reviews under the guidance of senior team members. Supervision of market participants is risk-based and intelligence-led and is balanced between onsite monitoring visits and desk-based reviews.

Given the scope of this role, we are open to candidates from a range of professional backgrounds, including financial services, legal and accounting or assurance/audit; but any experience or exposure to managed investment schemes, derivatives issuers and/or Financial Advisers will be highly regarded. Critical to your success will be your superior interpersonal skills, allowing you to work collaboratively to establish positive and productive relationships, both internally and externally. You'll be resilient, flexible and adaptable to change.
