Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Microsoft & VMware)

Salary range $80,902.00 - $109,457.00

Do you have a passion for technology and thrive on challenges? We're looking for a talented Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our dynamic team at the NZ Police Information and Communications Technology Service Centre, specialising in Microsoft systems, VMware Server Virtualisation incorporating Cloud, Hybrid and on premise operations, based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Porirua.

The Police ICT Service Centre is here to save police officers time, enhance their safety and contribute to making New Zealand a safer community. To prevent crime and crashes, Police needs information delivered to the front line that is reliable and able to be accessed anywhere, anytime. Making this happen is the daily work of our people in the ICT Service Centre. With our operational colleagues and partners we create world leading solutions in mobile, computer aided dispatch, intelligence, networks and security. We are looking for people that have the technical expertise but most importantly share our vision for innovation, partnerships and being part of a positive work environment.

This role is responsible for providing technical and functional direction for 3rd level support for Microsoft & VMware services and its related infrastructure. The environment being maintained covers the Microsoft & VMWare infrastructure that supports Operational Policing. , working with Cloud, hybrid and on premise server operations, the Microsoft stack ... VMware server virtualisation, Enterprise storage administration, scripting and automation. 

This is a dynamic and challenging position, and the successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive experience in supporting/troubleshooting/automation in Microsoft and VMWare Infrastructure in a large organisation;
  • Extensive experience in Service Delivery in a large organisation; &
  • Microsoft Certified Professional or equivalent experience desirable (VMware server Virtualisation, Cloud, Hybrid and on premise server operations)

 

Demonstrate the following SFIA 6 Framework skills:

  • ITOP (IT Infrastructure) Level 4;
  • PBMG (Problem Management) Level 5;
  • CFMG (Configuration Management) Level 5;
  • CPMG (Capacity Management) Level 5;
  • SCAD (Security Administration) Level 4;

 

Competencies – you will demonstrate the following:

  • Communicate Level 3 - Manager/Leader
  • Deliver Level 2 - Manager/Leader
  • Lead Level 2 - Manager/Leader
  • Innovate Level 2 - Manager/Leader
