Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Senior Technical Business Analyst (12-month fixed term)

The Office of the Auditor-General | Te Mana Arotake aims to improve trust and confidence in public services by giving New Zealanders an independent view of government spending and performance. As the statutory auditor of all public organisations, from councils to schools, the Auditor-General's work plays a major part in ensuring that our public sector remains one of the most trusted in the world.

We're looking for a Senior Technical Business Analyst to join our Data and Analytics team and support the Data Platform Project, which is part of our transformational Data and Analytics Programme. This programme focuses on providing data foundations, advanced analytics, and data sharing capability for the Office of the Auditor-General and Audit New Zealand.

About the Role

This role would suit someone who can work in a fast-paced environment where subject matter can be quite technical.

You'll work closely with the Data Platform project team to:

  • validate, elicit, and document business requirements for analytical products (new and existing);
  • develop and document new and improved data and analytics processes; and
  • support the development of analytical products and data assets in our new Snowflake-based data and analytics platform.

To succeed in this role, you'll have:

  • strong experience in business analysis, ideally in data and analytics or technology-focused programmes;
  • excellent organisational and facilitation skills;
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools; and
  • a proactive, flexible, and collaborative approach.

We offer our staff:

  • Ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Supportive hybrid working arrangements (flexible hours/days).
  • Health and well-being benefits.
