The New Zealand Police Information and Communications Technology Service Centre (ICTSC) are seeking to appoint of a Database Administrator to the Technology Operations group, based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Porirua.

 

The Police ICT Service Centre is here to save police officers time, enhance their safety and contribute to making New Zealand a safer community. To prevent crime and crashes, Police needs information delivered to the front line that is reliable and able to be accessed anywhere, anytime. Making this happen is the daily work of our people in the ICT Service Centre. With our operational colleagues and partners we create world leading solutions in mobile, computer aided dispatch, intelligence, networks and security. We are looking for people that have the technical expertise but most importantly share our vision for innovation, partnerships and being part of a positive work environment.

 

This role is responsible for providing management of the day to day technical and functional direction of database systems, delivering 2nd and 3rd level support to business owners and end users to ensure data integrity, reliability and performance at optimal efficiency. The roles also provide support of Database systems, including implementing new solutions and services, and the pro-active maintenance and enhancement of existing systems.

 

The role will primarily be supporting IBM Db2, All of our DBA's are cross skilled in MS SQL and Oracle database systems.

 

It is a dynamic and challenging position, the successful applicants will have proven experience with Linux based Database systems and motivated to specialise in IBM Db2.

 

It would be advantageous for any potential candidates to be able demonstrate to the following:

 

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL databases
  • Experience with Oracle databases
  • Experience with Db2 databases
  • Knowledge of and experience with performance tuning and operation practices in database systems
  • Experience providing 24x7 support in a large organisation.
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting databases in a large organisation
