Job Description

  • Logistics for a large busy site
  • Variety - mix of physical hands on and office/computer functions
  • Gracefield, Lower Hutt Location

This is a role that has real variety from driving a forklift, moving inwards and outwards goods, to maintaining our computerised inventory management system. You will be responsible for ensuring that the operational logistics requirements of Callaghan Innovation are carried out in accordance with the statutory requirements of the current HSE legislation and will work closely with the Logistics team to achieve this.

You'll be working in a small team of experienced logistics professionals who make sure that the broad range of products including chemicals and heavy equipment are delivered into and from our large multi building site.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Hazardous substances compliance and maintaining knowledge of new legislation
  • Ensuring the goods are barcoded, stored and delivered in an appropriate way and in compliance with Health and Safety, and HSNO and Dangerous Goods regulations
  • Operation of the Chemical Inventory System
  • Ensuring the team finance requirements are met
  • Filing and maintaining all relevant records and documentation
  • Operation of the solvent dispensary
  • Effectively communicating with different departments throughout the business to ensure all operations are handled correctly
  • Administering the receipt of inwards goods
  • Domestic courier shipping

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • A Science degree or equivalent technical experience
  • experience of working within HSNO and EPA guidelines
  • Strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to think quickly and deal with problems efficiently
  • The ability to be flexible, reliable and self motivated
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software

Knowledge and experience in the following is desirable but not essential:

  • Logistics operations and practices
  • Experience in warehousing and transit areas
  • Dangerous Goods Handling
  • Forklift licence endorsement
