Job Description

If you want to use your knowledge and experience in the tourism sector to make a difference in the world, then this fixed term opportunity could be for you.

The New Zealand Aid Programme provides funding to promote sustainable economic development with a strong focus on our near neighbours in the Pacific.  Tourism is one the sectors in the Pacific with the most potential for growth and it is one of our investment priorities.

It is also a sector where New Zealand has a recognised comparative advantage and we are often asked by our developing country partners to share our knowledge, experience, technology and know-how with them so that they can grow their own tourism sectors.

We respond to these requests by investing in a range of interventions that support the tourism sector such as infrastructure, destination marketing, training and national tourism planning.

We are looking for someone with experience and networks in the New Zealand tourism sector to provide strategic direction to the New Zealand aid programme's tourism investment decisions.  As part of this role you will be able to add value and direction to our country programme teams that are already investing in specific tourism promotion activities or considering future investments.  You will have excellent relationship, leadership, influencing and mentoring skills that will inspire others to see new opportunities and new ways of working as we seek to build a set of investments that create jobs and grow the private sector in the Pacific countries where we work.

This is an open tenure position. You must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate New Zealand Government security clearance.

To apply for this position please visit the 'Working for Us / Vacancies' page at to complete an application form and submit with your CV and covering letter by 9am on 23 August  2018.
