 The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has established itself as an agency with a critical role in regulating financial services and capital markets in New Zealand and providing better outcomes for investors, consumers, professionals, businesses, and for the New Zealand economy.

The Supervision team is primarily responsible for entities under the FMCA, AML/CFT, FAA and FMSA. The Supervision team guides and builds relationships with licensed entities, monitors their conduct and supports good customer outcomes. The team's supervision of market participants is risk-based and intelligence-led and includes monitoring visits at entities premises, desk-based reviews and licensing. The team may also undertake enforcement action as required where entities or individuals fall short of the required standards.

We are currently looking for an experienced leader who is extremely passionate about making a difference to join this team on their journey. You'll be responsible for up to seven team members to ensure high-quality monitoring outcomes are delivered. This will require working closely with the Head of Supervision and your peers across the team.  A focus of this role will be ensuring strong collaboration across all team members. We are looking for the right manager who can represent our shared values, and demonstrate these in their daily work practices.

Key to your success in this role will be your interpersonal and relationship management skills. While you will have knowledge and understanding of financial market participants and working within a financial services environment, more important will be your proven ability to manage, motivate and empower your team - you'll be a true people leader.  Positive and driven, your natural style will be to take a well-considered, forward thinking and planned approach, but you'll also be comfortable switching gears and responding with agility and flexibility to changes.
