OUR ORGANISATION

Hutt Hospital, part of Hutt Valley District Health Board is a busy 270 bed general district hospital, serving a population of around 145,000. We provide most secondary services, as well as being the tertiary centre for regional plastic, maxillofacial and burns services, the regional rheumatology and school dental services and the greater Wellington public health and breast screening services.

ABOUT THE SERVICE

As a member of the Māori health team, you will work in partnership across HVDHB, to accelerate systems change, identifying levers and driving improvements to eliminate inequity and improve Health outcomes for Māori.

 ABOUT THE ROLE

The Pou Tikanga will work in partnership across HVDHB continuously improving the visibility of tikanga Māori, driving the delivery of cultural safety training and contributing to the achievement of equitable health outcomes for Māori.   

DUTIES

The Pou Tikanga is responsible for:

  • Design and development of  Māori cultural safety training for the HVDHB workforce
  • The implementation and delivery of Māori Cultural safety training across HVDHB
  • Supporting and lifting the cultural safety, competence and awareness of tikanga practices across  HVDHB

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone with:

  • Significant networks and relationships with iwi and Māori providers 
  • Proven ability to lead and influence others to achieve effective outcomes for Māori
  • Highly skilled and capable trainer/facilitator, with strong Māori cultural knowledge and relevant skills for delivering training
  • Experience in developing bicultural resources to enhance training and uptake of learning to diverse audiences
