The High Tech Crime Group is seeking a talented Telecommunications Engineer.  This role will give you a unique opportunity to work and develop in a key growth area and you will be exposed to technologies and concepts that few other organisations can offer.

This position involves testing and development of communications with a strong focus on the Telco arena including developing partnerships with New Zealand Service Providers. An understanding of network architectures, cellular and voice communications is essential. Candidates with a Telco background are preferred.

As a Telecommunications Engineer, you will be able to demonstrate the following technical requirements:

  • Qualification or demonstrated ability in scripting language and networking.
  • Knowledge on handover interface standards and specifications between Network Operators and Police.
  • Industry background in the delivery of data communications and some experience in Architecture.
  • Knowledge in most infrastructure layers.

 The successful candidate for this role will:

  • Be self-motivated and have excellent organisational, research, and communication skills.
  • Pay attention to detail and have the flexibility to cope with change.
  • Have the ability to rapidly absorb, understand and apply new concepts and technologies.
  • Be capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
  • Work well in team environments.

You will have a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get involved whatever is needed. This is an operationally focussed group so you will need to be able switch priorities and focus quickly.

Special Requirements:

To be eligible for this role you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years.  Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence/a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.  Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 10 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken.  Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed
