We do this by providing a range of services, including research and development (R&D) solutions, skills and capability development programmes, and grants co-funding. Callaghan Innovation's Research and Technical Services in-house experts collaborate with domestic and international firms and industries to provide R&D services that enhance the product or service development process towards accelerating commercialisation. Our project teams are acutely aware of the need to connect R&D to commercial outcomes and provide expertise to deliver world-class science and innovation solutions for either short term research projects or longer-term technology transfer.

The Protein Science and Engineering Team within the Biotechnologies Group provides customised biotechnology R&D services focusing on biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology, recombinant technologies, protein expression and analytical services creating opportunities in the field of bioprocessing and biotechnology. The team is collocated at the University of Canterbury.

  • Do you have extensive experience in molecular biology, cell biology and/or biochemistry, with capabilities in protein science, mammalian cell culture and/or cellular imaging?
  • Are you looking for a new opportunity to contribute your scientific expertise to commercially focused research programmes?

If so, we have an exciting position that could be perfect for you.

As a Research Scientist, you will be an integral member of the Protein Science and Engineering team where you will be responsible for delivering scientific R&D outcomes.

For this role you will need to be flexible in your thinking and working methods as you will be working on a variety of different projects and collaborating closely with colleagues.
