The NZ Police Information and Communications Technology Service Centre are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer Data to the Technology Operations group, based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Porirua.

The Police ICT Service Centre is here to save police officers time, enhance their safety and contribute to making New Zealand a safer community. To prevent crime and crashes, Police needs information delivered to the front line that is reliable and able to be accessed anywhere, anytime. Making this happen is the daily work of our people in the ICT Service Centre. With our operational colleagues and partners we create world leading solutions in mobile, computer aided dispatch, intelligence, networks and security. We are looking for people that have the technical expertise but most importantly share our vision for innovation, partnerships and being part of a positive work environment.

This role is responsible for providing technical and functional direction for 3rd level support for Data network services and its related infrastructure. The environment being maintained covers the Data network infrastructure that supports Operational Policing.


Skills & Experience:

This is a dynamic and challenging position, and the successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Extensive experience in supporting/troubleshooting data networks in a large organisation;
  • Extensive experience in Service Delivery in a large organisation; &
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional or equivalent experience desirable.

Demonstrate the following SFIA 6 Framework skills:

  • ITOP (IT Infrastructure) Level 4;
  • PBMG (Problem Management) Level 5;
  • CFMG (Configuration Management) Level 5;
  • CPMG (Capacity Management) Level 5;
  • SCAD (Security Administration) Level 4; &
  • NTAS (Network Support) Level 5.


Special Requirements

  • To apply for this role you must be a NZ citizen or permanent resident
  • Successful applicant has to reside in the Wellington area
  • Required to undergo a full reference and security check prior to any offer of employment
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional or equivalent experience desirable.
