 The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has established itself as an agency with a critical role in regulating capital markets and financial services in New Zealand and providing better outcomes for investors, consumers, professionals, businesses, and for the New Zealand economy.

Managing engagement with our Government and Industry stakeholders is a significant function of our Strategy and Stakeholder Relations Team, with a focus on proactively building relationships to support FMA's initiatives and objectives. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Government and Industry Relations to join the team.

Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Stakeholder Relations (and working closely with FMA's Chief Executive Officer and senior leaders), this position will see you work proactively across the organisation to effectively lead our interactions with government agencies, domestic co-regulators, relevant Ministers and key industry groups. Through these relationships, you'll identify opportunities to deepen understanding of high quality regulation while also supporting FMA's strategic priorities at government and industry level.

Key to your success in this role will be your proven, senior level experience in government and stakeholder relations (or external communications) gained within financial services or other relevant sectors. You'll have knowledge of NZ (or overseas) securities/financial regulatory regime and ideally an understanding of NZ Government processes and systems.

Positive and self-motivated, you're natural style will be to take a well-considered, forward thinking and planned approach, but you'll also be comfortable switching gears and responding with agility and flexibility to change. Your inherent ability to build and maintain positive relationships allows you to build trust and become a respected and valued member of the team.
