Ara Woolston Campus is the leading South Island provider for Trades training and will play an essential role in the revitalisation of Christchurch and the Canterbury region. Our Trades Campus located in Woolston provides well equipped, practical learning facilities for a wide variety of trade disciplines.

 

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Trades campus team as a Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying Tutor.

 

The role includes delivery to Ara Apprentice, Pre-Trade, Youth Guarantee, Night classes, Managed Apprentice/Traineeships and Gateway, Christchurch Men's Prison and release/block coursework for the ITO. The position will cover practical hands-on in addition to all theory aspects.

 

Working within the Plumbing department, you will share your skills and inspire others by passing on your knowledge, working with a variety of learners providing tutorial and pastoral support to students to gain the skills required to become a trade's person.

Skills

The ideal candidate for this role will be a skilled practitioner in the Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying industry with a significant amount of recent practical experience who is looking to take a new step and give back to their trade by passing on their extensive knowledge to our students.

 

While teaching experience or experience training apprentices would be an advantage, at Ara Institute of Canterbury we also value your skills and hands-on experience. Our tutors are well supported in these rewarding teaching roles and are assisted in gaining a formal teaching qualification.

 

You must have:

  • A passion for your Trade
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good time management
