Interior Design Tutor

The Department of Engineering & Architectural Studies provides a range of architectural, construction and engineering related qualifications that are in demand due to their high quality and relevance to the building industry in New Zealand, and in particular, the Christchurch rebuild. Qualifications include the Bachelor of Architectural Studies, Bachelor of Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Construction, New Zealand Diplomas in Engineering, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, as well as diplomas in Computer Aided Design. The department is based in the new Kahukura Building on Moorhouse Ave, which provides modern learning spaces and technologies for the delivery of quality teaching and learning.

Department staff come from a broad range of construction related backgrounds including engineers, architects, draughtspeople, interior designers, quantity surveyors and materials science.

 

The Role

This role provides for the quality delivery of teaching and resource development in the Diploma in Interior Design (residential) along with contributions to other programmes such as the Diploma in Interior Design (commercial). The tutor will work with other tutors and staff to ensure that high academic quality is maintained in the department and that all internal and external educational requirements for the department are met. Courses the successful candidate could contribute to may include building technology (including construction systems and legislation), digital presentation (including 2D and 3D CAD), design studio, professional practice, and materials and finishes. The assignment of courses will depend on the successful candidates' skills, experience and interests, and the needs of the programme.

 

Duties

  • Design and develop quality resources for teaching
  • Deliver quality teaching and assessment of students
  • Complete Ara administrative requirements in a timely manner
  • Effectively engage with students, colleagues and industry

 

Skills/Experience

  • Tertiary level qualification in interior design or a related discipline
  • Experience in interior design (commercial)
  • Teaching experience preferred
