The Cements and Mineral Processing team supports NZ companies across the full range of cements applications, including:

  • Testing of cement properties
  • Optimisation of cement formulations
  • Development of specialty cements such as geothermal, light weight or low carbon cements
  • Trouble shooting of production quality challenges
  • Advising on new available technologies

We are looking to recruit a Junior Research Scientist/Engineer in the Cements and Mineral Processing team.

You will be part of our Concrete 3D Printing Project aimed at printing New Zealand's first 3D printed building. This will involve contributing to the design and build of the printer, developing nozzle designs, cement and concrete formulations.

The role requires the successful candidate to carry out research in the cement and concrete space. More specifically this will involve the planning, execution, and reporting on research and development projects. This will involve working as an individual and as a team to achieve the required outcomes, while complying with all health and safety practises.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • A degree in cement science, materials science or related discipline or equivalent industry experience. Graduates will be considered
  • Willingness and ability to devise new approaches to technical problems
  • Experience delivering applied research projects, including planning and organising, is desirable
  • Experience in cement materials characterisation, fabrication and testing is desirable
  • Experience working with industry to develop new products or processes is desirable
  • Experience with Solidworks and Mastercam is desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
