Job Description

Ask those who work in our organisation and they will say, the passion for making a difference is incredible.  At Corrections we are focused on achieving our goal of upholding public safety. We are united in our effort to reduce re-offending, helping offenders to turn their lives around through investments in employment and rehabilitation programmes, reintegration support and continuous improvement in the way we operate. Whilst we are a large and complex organisation, we are a united workforce driving for change.

Our policy team works across a myriad of diverse issues and range of projects, including the development of ground-breaking legislation. We provide advice to senior leaders, the executive leadership team and the Minister of Corrections on a wide-range of emerging issues, such as the management of high risk offenders and the use of new technologies.  We work across the justice sector to achieve shared objectives and deliver on government priorities, in particular, the Safe and Effective Criminal Justice Reform Programme.

Reporting into the Chief Policy Adviser, this role is integral and we are looking to appoint a thought leader with sound experience in policy coupled with management skills to encourage, motivate, and support one of our teams in the crucial work they do. You will possess the ability to think critically, manage high level relationships both internally and externally, whilst keeping your eye on the pulse across a large programme of work.

This role will appeal to a policy thought leader who is calm, high energy and collaborative in style. You will possess flare for policy coupled with outstanding communication skills.

Department of Corrections embraces diversity and is committed to an inclusive workplace.  We recognise and celebrate the uniqueness of individuals and celebrate the collective talent of all employees.
