This role

The Strategy and Economics Analyst is a senior role responsible for leading the commercial and strategic analysis to develop strategy and to execute strategic projects that support our ambition.

You'll work on a variety of critical projects, including strategy development and planning, leading economic forecasting / scenario analysis and insights, and providing actionable insights to the wider team and Callaghan Innovation leadership. You will interact across the organisation and will be able to influence a wide range of stakeholders.

You will be part of Callaghan Innovation's Strategy team, which is part of the Strategy and Impact Group - a team passionate about making a difference for New Zealand.

To be successful you will have the following attributes and skills:

  • Ideally a minimum of six years experience with a proven track record in an economics, strategy, market intelligence or similar role
  • Highly numeric, inquisitive and analytical problem solver, with an ability to quickly grasp key issues, understand the big picture and link data and information from multiple sources to provide actionable insights
  • Advanced market / data modelling skills, with a sound understanding of economic principles to enable you to source and analyse key macro and economic data
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to understand organisational drivers and translate complex problems to simple solutions
  • You will be a high achiever, thrive in a fast-paced environment and consistently deliver excellent results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills - while this role does not have direct reports, you will be managing stakeholders in the delivery of your projects
