Job Description

Callaghan Innovation is New Zealand's innovation agency. We're here to liberate innovators by connecting businesses to the networks, capability and funding they need to make their ideas happen. We challenge both our customers and New Zealand to step up to the challenge of technological change.

We are looking for an exceptional people leader with previous experience working in a dynamic and challenging environment to join the Measurement Standards Laboratory - New Zealand's National Metrology Institute responsible for maintaining the national measurement system essential for on-going trade.

As the successful candidate, you will be leading a team with 12 direct reports and have overall accountability and responsibility for the maintenance of the New Zealand's primary measurement standards for temperature, humidity, photometry and radiometry. We're looking for someone to help set the strategic direction for these technical areas over the next five years, build connections with key industry and government stakeholders in New Zealand to ensure relevance of technical capabilities, and implement our capital investment plan for new facilities and equipment. You will lead culture change to create a team that is positive, proactive, engaged, prepared to take risks and step outside comfort zones to deliver value for New Zealand.

This is a fixed-term opportunity to enable us to build cross-functional capability within our environment.

To be successful you will have the following attributes and skills:
