Salary Range: $47,726.00 - $64,570.00

Part Time – 24 hours per week

New Zealand Police are offering an opportunity to join the Police Prosecution Service (PPS) in a core foundation role as a Prosecution Support Officer (PSO) based in Levin. This is a part-time position, 24 hours per week.

 

In your role as a Prosecution Support Officer you will provide administrative support to the PPS office, to enable its effective and efficient operation. Responsibilities include: working with, processing, and administratively managing prosecution files, including recording and extracting relevant information, checking accuracy and completeness, administering necessary follow ups (including as directed by PPS staff), updating information, and organising files; use and management of databases and spreadsheets, and responding to and/or directing queries that come into the PPS office.   

 

As a PSO you will be part of a diverse team of managerial staff and sworn and police employee prosecutors.  Through excellent knowledge of Police and Ministry of Justice processes, data bases, and operating procedures you will be an important part of the Criminal Justice Sector.

Skills - You will be able to:

Demonstrate ability to support the efficient and effective delivery of PPS work through the efficient and effective administrative of the PPS office.

 

  • Demonstrate ability to collate, organise, and regularly update files and other data as new information becomes available, so as to ensure that records and documents are current and accurate.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively so as to maintain quality of work under strict timeframes.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify problems early, make sound decisions, and pursue effective solutions.
  • Work effectively in partnership with PPS colleagues, district and national office staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate experience in office management, processes and the efficient use of the Microsoft Office suite is essential.
  • Demonstrate experience in using Justice Sector databases and processes and knowledge of key New Zealand Statutes is desirable but not essential
