Job Description

Pacific and  Development Group (PDG)

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT)

Are you an exceptional education specialist with a passion for the Pacific?

We're looking for a Senior Adviser – Education to be part of New Zealand's increased focus on providing a quality education for people in the region. The Senior Adviser – Education is part of an advisory team in Wellington that provides advice and technical support for education investments in the Pacific.

As well as having excellent written and oral communication, analysis, problem-solving and negotiation skills, you'll enjoy working with teams to turn policy into sound practices. You'll be able to provide top quality advice and be completely unfazed by ambiguity or complexity.

Being collaborative and great at building relationships is vital, because you'll be working with programme teams and partners to advance education outcomes in Pacific Island countries. That's anything from managing complex activities to supporting or leading education concepts, design, implementation and monitoring.

To be successful, you'll need at least five years' experience in the education sector (we're looking for policy or operational advisory experience, and in-depth understanding of education systems and expertise in areas relevant or applicable to developing country contexts).  Work experience in the Pacific region would be advantage.
