Job Description

  • Part-time, fixed-term opportunity until March 2020
  • Based in our National Office in Wellington
  • Annual salary of $71,545 plus five weeks' annual leave
  • Part-time 24 hours per week

The role

Our vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help us achieve this we are currently recruiting for an Advisor to join our Government Relations team to provide quality service to the Minister, Associate Ministers of Social Housing and the Chief Executive of Housing New Zealand, and shares its knowledge of Parliament and Government within Housing New Zealand.

This role is responsible for:

  • preparing draft replies to Ministerial and Chief Executive correspondence, Parliamentary Questions, and Official Information Act requests
  • assisting with projects such as preparing for Select Committee hearings
  • plain English drafting of reports, editing and peer review
  • provision of responses to requests for information from the Minister's office
  • maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders
  • sharing knowledge and information across the wider business.

The following skills, knowledge and experience are desirable for this position:

  • Previous experience writing and editing high quality responses in a Government context
  • Well developed time management and organisational skills
  • Working in a fast paced team environment
