Job Description

Who we are

Every day New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) connects New Zealand export businesses with opportunities to grow and go global. Their success is our success. We also connect investors with New Zealand investment opportunities across companies, sectors and regions. If you are innovative with a can-do attitude, adventurous, and open to being challenged, then this might be the opportunity for you! Our people are based in 50 offices, working across 24 time zones and 40 languages to support New Zealand businesses in over 100 countries.

Our Finance team has an ambition to create a stronger, more agile and more connected finance function for NZTE. We will do this by shifting from back office to front office and truly earn the 'title' of partner to our organisation, which will be a great step forward. As NZTE continues to mature and flex its resources to support the organisations strategy, there are amazing opportunities and challenges for the Finance team. We want to provide an awesome customer experience using automation and digitalisation to sync in with our internal partners to produce joined up delivery rather than manual and transactional individual processes.

What you'll be doing

As the Accounts Payable Advisor, you will provide financial and analytical support as part of an outstanding customer experience across the organisation. You will be well equipped to complete payments and manage expenses, verifying and reconciling invoices and bank movements, initiating change and supporting key operational and financial targets to be delivered by the Finance Operations team.

You will evaluate finance systems, procedures and practices and make appropriate recommendations for modifications and improvements as well as use your expertise to support new programmes/projects.

What you'll need to be successful

This is not an entry level role, experience in implementing new finance systems, process improvement and financial controls will set your application apart. You will be passionate about ensuring teams are using technology to its best advantage, and NZTE people have the right tools and information to do their job. You will enjoy building strong relationships and collaborating with all levels of the organisation, have a strong customer focus and strive to push the boat out on innovation!

Why you'll love working here

NZTE is a truly global organisation where we work across different time zones and offer flexibility because of this. We know that life isn't all about work so we will give you the right technology to allow you to work anywhere and balance your time. Work life balance is important to us - our position is if it's good for you, it's good for the team and it's good for NZTE - we see it as a benefit. On top of this, we also offer five weeks annual leave so you can have that extra time in the year to enjoy what you love doing!

What's next

Have a read of the position description on our careers page and if you are interested, apply before 3pm NZ time Tuesday, 22 October 2019.

We believe New Zealand is good for the world.  We were the last to be discovered but the first to give women the vote.  A country embracing its diverse landscapes and even greater diversity of its people.  At NZTE it's all about the people.  We work flexibly at NZTE and we're keen to talk to you about what that might mean for you in this role.  We're deeply connected to the diversity of our people across the globe and embrace how that drives our organisation and the country forward.
