Job Description

Are you interested in using your existing ICT skills as a base to get into the rapidly growing field of cyber security? The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is seeking talented individuals with varying levels of knowledge and experience to work as engagement managers. You may be an experienced relationship manager looking for a new challenge or be at the early stages of your career with a strong interest in cyber security and the desire and capability to build a successful career. You will be working within a team of passionate professionals with strong relationship management skills within the NCSC.

As an established ICT professional, you will have a sound foundation in ICT work and environments, understand risk management, and have experience working with a wide range of customers to build productive relationships.  We are offering a new challenge and/or the opportunity to build upon your knowledge and skills within the dynamic field of cyber security.

The role will include managing a portfolio of key stakeholders across government and the private sector, both nationally and internationally.  The role necessitates working with technical security and information assurance policy teams within the NCSC.  You will be required to develop and maintain productive relationships in order to protect New Zealand's significant national information infrastructure from advanced cyber security threats.
To be successful in this role you will be enthusiastic and self-motivated. You will be able to work both independently and in a team, and display sound judgement. You will also have:

  • Highly developed negotiation and relationship management skills, at all levels
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Sound problem solving abilities
  • Experience in the Information Technology or Information Assurance and Cyber Security sectors.

While experience and training within the ICT industry is desirable, we also welcome applications from individuals who are in the early phases of their career, with a few years working experience and who are willing to work hard to develop the required knowledge and skills around cyber security. You may already be working in a field that necessitates strong interpersonal skills or conversely in a more technical role and are looking for an opportunity to strengthen your engagement skills.

Applications must include a completed application form, a current CV and cover letter. These should be sent to quoting reference number C2/17/59.

Candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
