Job Description

We are looking for people to join us as Computer Network Defence (CND) Analysts. Whether you're early in your career, or an industry expert, we want to hear from you.

We are defending New Zealand from the most serious and sophisticated cyber-actors out there. Our foreign adversaries are often well-resourced, highly skilled, and good at hiding in plain sight. We are constantly working to understand these adversaries and develop new techniques to uncover their actions and defeat them.

Working in a high performing team of cyber security professionals, you will be striving to understand and counter sophisticated cyber borne threats against New Zealand's information infrastructures of significance. You will be working with exciting technologies to solve interesting analytical and technical problems using unique datasets that you wouldn't have the opportunity to do anywhere else.

First and foremost, we are seeking candidates that are knowledgeable and passionate about information technology with a strong desire to learn and specialise in Computer Network Defence. In addition we are looking for candidates with:

  • Expertise or interest in learning network and host intrusion detection and discovery techniques
  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in fields such as, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, and Data Science
  • Knowledge of vulnerabilities, exploits and mitigation techniques
  • A willingness to try new things, be innovative and push the boundaries of traditional CND approaches
  • A desire to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Programming / scripting experience

Are you self-motivated, resourceful, and innovative, with an ability to think outside of the box? Do you enjoy working independently and in a team? Are you known to be someone who demonstrates sound judgement? Do you embrace the challenge of a busy environment, are able to manage your workload and work to deadlines? Are you tired of working for an organisation focused on the bottom line with pressure to bill someone for your time?

Apply today, and kick start a meaningful career with the GCSB.

We will offer you the opportunity to keep up to date with the latest developments in the cyber security world. There is a defined career path within the team and we will dedicate significant investment into your professional development. You will also enjoy subsidised healthcare and an on-site gym.

We welcome applications from candidates with all levels of experience and would offer salary based on the skills and knowledge you would bring in.

Salary per annum:

Level 1 - $68,316 - $102,474

Level 2 - $77,711 - $116,567

Level 3 – 90,366 - $135,549
