The New Zealand Government has committed to a vision of a Smokefree New Zealand/Aotearoa by 2025. This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to that vision and make a huge difference to health outcomes for our community.
We have a full time position available which is responsible for providing administration support to the service as well as the first point of contact for all referrals received by the Living Smokefree Service within Population Health team providing each client with the most effective, timely and appropriate Smokefree advice and support possible for their needs.
The position is also be responsible for providing evidence-based smoking cessation support and reducing the persistent population health inequities that are associated with high smoking prevalence rates in Counties Manukau by taking a population health and holistic wellbeing approach that is responsive and client/ whaanau-led for those that are referred to the Smokefree Service.
The position contributes to the overarching organisational vision of a Smokefree Counties Manukau by 2025 (5% prevalence or less across all groups) and CM Health Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities.
It is important that you are able to hit the ground running so it is essential that you have a recognised health or related tertiary qualification. You will also have extensive knowledge of population health issues and their relation to individual and whaanau. A full driver's licence is essential.
You will need to have experience working with Maaori and/or Pacific peoples, and demonstrated application of quality improvement methods. Smoking cessation experience would also be beneficial, however more important is the ability to learn and develop in this regard, as full training will be provided. The ability to speak Te Reo or a Pacific language would definitely be an advantage.
You will have natural communication skills and a strong ability to relate to people from all walks of life, as well as being a great a motivator, with empathy and patience.
This is a full time role of 40 hours per week, with occasional requirements for evening phone calls and or patient contacts.
