The role of Learning and Development Design Manager has a direct impact on public safety, staff safety and the rehabilitation of offenders on a National scale. If you are looking for a role that will give you a real sense of purpose then this may be for you.  This role is available to cover the secondment period of the current manager.

The range of diversity of learning that is created through the leadership of this role will see the successful candidate manage a highly experienced and savvy design team. The key to success in the role is the ability to leveraging technology, designing high quality content whilst working closely with the management across the Department to prioritise work.  

The Learning and Development Design Manager is responsible for lifting the capability of the design team by creating innovative, relevant learning that covers modern simulated learning design programmes through agile project management.  

As the successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in Learning and Development Design or equivalent exposure to Learning & Development. The ability to communicate strategic issues to a range of audiences is essential, along with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a broad cross section of people and take a collaborative and consultative approach with colleagues.

Essential skills and experience required for the role include:

  • Strong interpersonal skills that allow you to bring groups and objectives together
  • The ability to integrate prior knowledge and work experience in designing innovative learning solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to communicate strategic issues to senior executive level
  • The ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a broad cross section of people and take a collaborative and consultative approach with colleagues
  • Previous experience in leading and managing a team

The successful candidate should also hold a strong understanding of Digital learning tools including Virtual learning environments and learning management systems. You will become a trusted source of consultative support to the business, inspiring people through innovation.
