Job Description

If the Intelligence Community helps protect the people of New Zealand, who helps protect the Intelligence Community?

 

Keeping New Zealand and New Zealanders safe is an important job and fortunately, New Zealand has a committed group of people doing this day after day.

But sometimes those committed people are so focused on their jobs that they forget to think about themselves.

To help support and inform them, the NZSIS is looking for individuals who have an interest in human behavior, with attention to detail and an enquiring mind to join our Wellington-based Personnel Security team.

We are a small dedicated team with a big role – from presenting across government to discrete one-on-ones with staff; we strive to provide the highest quality personnel security advice and expertise in New Zealand.

If you are looking for the opportunity to take on a new challenge, are comfortable working with delicate information, have an eye for efficiency, a drive for personal development and don't mind being thrown the odd curve ball, then we may have a job for you.

The upmost professionalism, integrity and discretion is required.

Applicants must hold New Zealand Citizenship and be prepared to undergo the extensive and lengthy background checks necessary to hold a high level of security clearance.

To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.

 

You must be able to obtain and maintain a high level security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
