Job Description

  • Do you have experience working with telecommunications data or processing data requests?
  • Would you like to make a real contribution to making New Zealand and the world a safer place?

As an Intercept Officer, you will be responsible for providing warranted intercept collection and communications data for NZSIS in support of New Zealand's national security priorities.  As such, it is an opportunity to directly contribute to a key aspect of the Service's investigative and operational work.

To be successful in this role, you will have good attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to see a task through to completion with minimal supervision. You will also be able to streamline and enhance processes to make them more efficient, and ensure they are fully documented and understood by others.  Most importantly, you will be self-motivated, be able to work effectively in an operational environment, and take a collaborative, customer-oriented approach.

This is not a technical specialist role, although the successful candidate will be expected to be able to become comfortable using various intercept and IT systems, at both a user and system administrator level.  Some previous experience and understanding of intercept and communications data would be an advantage, but is not a prerequisite.

In return you will receive a competitive compensation package, flexible working hours, and the chance to make a valuable contribution at the heart of the NZSIS' security and intelligence work.

A copy of the position description can be found on this page.

Salary range:  $48,221 - $60,276 circa.
