Job Description

What you will do

Bring your exceptional business support and administration skills to NZDF and manage our general administrative functions for all departments of the Defence Estate and Infrastructure business unit.

As well as leading and managing the DEI Executive Assistants and Senior Business Administrators you will: 

  • Develop and lead process improvement projects;
  • Oversee office financial management, delegation and financial training;
  • Provide DEI HR oversight;
  • Maintain the DEI website and intranet site. 

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a wider dynamic team regenerating NZDF's nine camps and bases in a brand new role that you can make your own.
  
What we need

Ideally you'll be a positive and proactive person who is organised and with experience in providing business support and administration within a complex and fluid environment.

We are also looking for skills and experience in the following:  

  • Financial reporting, oversight, delegation and training;
  • Business management within a large and complex organisation;
  • Experience managing HR requirements;
  • Professional and effective communication style and the ability to build influential relationships.

Who we are

NZDF is undertaking a major regeneration programme developing the Defence Estate in order to achieve our overarching aim of delivering an integrated Defence Force. The Defence Estate is where our personnel live, work and train and comprises of 81,000ha of land, property and infrastructure assets valued at $4.7bn.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
