Technical Support, Hercules Aircraft at NZ Defence Force, Auckland

Mō te tūnga | About the role

In this role you will be primarily responsible for the aeronautical configuration management of the Hercules aircraft airframe and systems, providing subject matter expertise. The position will contribute to the recording of Modification, Special Extension/Anticipation, Special Maintenance Instructions, Major Defect Reviews and Concession procedural administration, whilst also maintaining the relevant databases associated with efficient running of TS HER's core functions.

You will also be responsible for providing subject matter expertise in a supervisory function for all airworthiness matters which will call upon your sound communication and interpersonal skills. This will also call upon your in-depth understanding of aircraft systems including maintenance and operational requirements.

Your research and investigative skills will be required when researching and reporting on various matters including reports and specifications, which will also see you using your initiative on many occasions when making sound recommendations. Your proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications with accuracy and attention to detail will be strengths, as will be the ability to use a Computerised Maintenance Management System specifically SAP.

The NZDF Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) is responsible for provision of continuing airworthiness management for all NZDF aircraft fleets in accordance with the requirements laid down in the NZDF DAR (EASA / EMAR) M regulations.

The CAMO, through the Hercules Technical Support Cell (TS HER), is responsible for the Technical Airworthiness of the Hercules aircraft and associated aeronautical structure and systems in support of NZDF Operations.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
