Mō te tūnga | About the role

This is a frontline role where you will be the face of the Health Centre, as the first point of contact for patients and visitors.

You will become that really important conduit between patients, staff and stakeholders within the wider NZDF. You'll be the Subject Matter Expert for all things health centre administration, enabling you to provide training to others when needed.

The team culture is built on trust, therefore you'll be discreet and maintain absolute confidentiality at all times. This is reflected in the level of security clearance required for this role.

We are seeking a person with really a good base of administration skills from within a medical or healthcare environment.

Ideally, you will have the following skills/experience:

  • Confident communicator you are able to engage with a diverse range of people in person, over the phone and through written communication;
  • Being the great administrator you are, you have developed excellent time management and organisational skills;
  • Handle pressure well and work comfortably managing competing priorities; and
  • Have a keen eye for continuous improvement.

An intermediate level of computer literacy is required with a focus on the Microsoft Office suite of applications.

Papakura Military Camp, Defence Health Centre is responsible for maintaining the baseline health of the men and woman of the 1st New Zealand Special Air Service (1 NZAS Regt) who are required to deploy at short notice. It is primarily focused on general medical support to all personnel on camp in order to allow then to meet the unit's operational tempo, in all environments.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
