Construction Project Manager at NZ Defence Force, Auckland

Mō te tūnga | About the role
You will focus on and have oversight of the Construction Project Management at the Papakura Military Camp and surrounding areas. You will be responsible for managing construction projects and team members including successful implementation within set tolerances (i.e. time, budget, quality, scope, risks and benefits) in conjunction with the Defence Estate Regeneration Programme.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining project artefacts and documentation in accordance with established NZDF processes and the PRINCE2 process;
- Working closely with key stakeholders and team/project team members to manage the delivery of projects; and
- Collaborating with other construction project managers who will be managing other projects assigned to the Defence Estate and Infrastructure organisation.
Please note: You will need a clean full NZ driver's license.

You will also have:
- Proven experience in leading, managing and successfully implementing large scale projects;
- Proven ability to deal with complex conceptual issues and to apply problem solving techniques;
- Knowledge of Project Management methodologies and tools e.g. PRINCE2;
- Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to think laterally in preparing business cases, business specifications and training material; and
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

Defence Estate and Infrastructure (DEI) develop, maintain and manage land, property and infrastructure assets in order to support NZDF military capabilities and all of government outcomes, through the Defence Estate Regeneration Programme. The Defence estate comprises over 80,000ha of land hectares and 5,000 buildings spread across nine camps and bases, two large land training areas and various regional locations with infrastructure and buildings. The Estate Delivery unit is responsible for making decisions and executing delivery of approximately $150M OPEX and up to $200M CAPEX per annum.

- most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
