The analytical production directorate within GEOINT NZ exploit the full spectrum of geospatial data in support of the intelligence and operational activities that contribute to the defence and security of NZ.
You will lead the Analytical Production directorate with three subordinate teams of GEOINT Analysts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the analytical requirements and production outputs for the directorate.
- Managing and developing the analytical function within GNZ which includes facilitating training, coaching and mentoring and the effective adoption of emerging technology.
- Being a senior leader within GEOINT NZ, providing strategic input and supporting organisational decision makers.
It is preferred that this role is based in Wellington CBD however there is the option to work from Devonport, Auckland. Due to the nature of the duties required for this role there are limited opportunities to work from home.
Flexible working arrangements for varied hours/days are negotiable. Occasional domestic and international travel is required.

We are looking for an experienced leader with a background in Intelligence. You will be a strategic thinker who can work collaboratively with your peers and senior leaders.
Ideally, you will have:
- Strong relationship management and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working in a classified environment and managing access to highly sensitive information.
- Project management and planning skills.
GEOINT knowledge and experience is highly desirable, however, we will consider applicants with other Intelligence knowledge and experience.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
Higher level Security Clearance
- You must have been an NZ Citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for 10 years.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have 15 years of verifiable background history in countries where a meaningful background check can be undertaken and assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service.
